Next stop - China!!!

One of my fave things to do when I'm not actually travelling is to watch the Lonely Planet Travel series! While watching yesterday, they featured this most beautiful amazing city in China - Suzhou!

Of course I love the picture above - look at all those beautiful lanterns!!

The city is known as the Venice of China as it also contains canals and beautiful stone bridges.
Some of the stunning classical gardens are UNESCO world heritage sites.

Its also famous for its silk - another reason for me to visit!!

Its only about 80km from Shanghai - so I reckon pretty easy to get to.
Have any of my blog friends visited this place???

Its definately on my list of must see places in the near future. When I get there I'll be sure to share with you!!

I found these pics on Wikipedia. I hope you enjoy :-)

Happy weekend!!

That place sure is beautiful!
I have an Auntie who lives in Beijing. She has been living there for almost 5 years. She is coming here for Christmas and I am going to ask her if she has been there!
I hope you are having a great weekend!

I'd definitely recommend Suzhou!

When Hubby and I went to China on a tour four years ago, one of our stops was Suzhou. We got to ride in a boat through some of the canals. Not all of them look as scenic as the one in your picture!

We also got to tour a silk factory there. It was interesting seeing how they untangled the strands of silk in the cocoons. As most tours do, this one emptied out into a large gift shop.

Suzhou is an amazing place, but if you want to really experience, avoid the "shopping stop"package tours then consider a new "independent or backpacking" Hop on off style of travel. Independent or Backpacking in China is often rejected by many due to the perceived “hassles & frustration” of internal China travel. The train and bus network are described as demanding at best and a nightmare at worst.

The “Hop On & Off” travel network will link together China’s best sites, Cities and hostels and is the ONLY independent flexible, affordable, comfortable and safe Travel Network.

Dragon Bus China has been designed for the independent travellers by independent travellers. Dragon Bus is a fully integrated Bus & accommodation travel network served by foreign bi lingual guides, using safe, comfortable pre vetted hostels (& hotels where no hostels exist). A Pass or Sector allows travellers to experience the real China without having to navigate and endure the public bus or train systems. The service uses pre-vetted hostels that have a range of single sex dorms and twin & double rooms with and without private facilities. This service is also being taken up worldwide travel wholesaler, including STA Travel, Gapyear (by promotion) and regional providers across the world. An 18 day full pass, with accommodation, from only $980 AUD or 5800 RMB @!!

We hope that this may interest some of your fans@!
